Did you know that out of the three main platform holders, Microsoft is ahead of its competitors by miles when it comes to backward compatibility?

  • We haven’t heard anything about the Xbox Backwards Compatibility Program for a long time. Now, however, it seems that Microsoft is getting ready to release a brand new batch of titles.Keep in mind that this isn’t official information yet, just rumors spread by Xbox officials. But November is close and we could see some of our most loved titles make a comeback.

Game preservation is something the Redmond company takes very seriously and is willing to commit a lot of time and resources in order to ensure its success.

Various original Xbox and Xbox 360 games are part of their backward compatibility program on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, they’ve been putting their money where their mouth is, apparently.

Xbox officials spread exciting rumors

It has been quite a while since any games from those older Xbox consoles were added to the catalog of backward compatible titles, and gamers are starting to question this lack of activity.

However, this could all change pretty soon, according to Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker, who recently took to Twitter to state that another batch of Xbox and Xbox 360 games will be made backward compatible, most likely in November.

This November will be Xbox’s 20th anniversary, so it would make perfect sense for Microsoft to do something along those lines.

An update here. It seems some games may have been datamined, but sometimes OG and 360 games are tested for BC but don’t make the cut so I won’t list any games as to not set expectations. Just a heads up that there’s been activity here so I’d probably expect something in November https://t.co/dBidwLcf8g

Of course, this is still unverified information, so let’s not get all excited until we have actual official confirmation, just to avoid some major disappointment.

We will keep a close eye on this topic and do our best to keep you posted as soon as new and more tangible information becomes available.

Until then, you can make your dream list of games you would like resurrected and pray that Xbox decides to bring some of those back.
