Vodafone Uganda has appointed John Ndego as its new Chief Executive Officer with effect from 11 July 2016. He replaces Allan Richardson, who was at the helm at Vodafone Uganda for a little over 1 year and now returns to the Afrimax Group office in preparation for the next market launches following the recent launch of operations in Ghana and Zambia.  

Ndego’s experience spans twenty six years in Telecoms, FMCG, Advertising and Public Relations in seven countries.He has previously worked as Managing Director, Airtel Congo Brazzaville and Airtel Burkina Faso; Group Commercial Director Zain Africa and before that as Sales and Distribution Director at Celtel Gabon. He also held various senior management positions within Nestlé in Nigeria, Benin and Togo. 

The new Vodafone C.E.O’s appointment comes one year into the entry of Vodafone in Uganda and at a crucial time in the telecommunications industry in Uganda, with data services poised to dictate the pace of growth in the years ahead.

John Ndego holds a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and has attended Leadership, Strategy, and Management programs at the London Business School, Harvard University and HEC Paris. He is an alumni of the Leadership programme from INSEAD Singapore.
