There are times when you may want to quickly view a recently created or modified files by a specific program for some reason. You might want to quickly open a recently created or modified documents by Office Word program, for instance.

The Quick Access in Windows 10 displays recently viewed as well as modified files, but if you modified tens of files, you might not be able to find out recently created or modified files by a specific program.

We all know that the Start menu search or taskbar search can be used to find programs as well as files. You can even configure the search index to add new locations and make Windows 10 to search within file contents as well. It’s even possible to use Start menu search as a calculator in Windows 10. But did you know that the Start menu search can also be used to find recently created or modified files by a specific program?

Yes, the Start menu search can now be used to find and quickly open recently modified files by a particular program. For instance, you can soon find out recently edited files using the Notepad program. Or you can view recently created or modified files by Paint.net application.

In order to find out recently modified or edited files by a specific program, all you need to do is enter the program’s name in the Start menu or taskbar search. The search automatically displays the program which you are looking for as well as up to four recently modified or edited files by the program. As you can see in the picture below, the search is showing recently edited or created files by the Paint.net program.

The ability to search for recently created or modified files is a new feature in the Anniversary Update. So please make sure that you’re running Windows 10 version 1607 or above before trying out this tip.
