Developers Hardsuit Labs and Paradox Interactive announced on the official Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Twitter account that the game will be first person only.

Here is what they had to say about it:

Vampire The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 first person only: Gamers are unhappy

Steam users took it to the forums and expressed their disappointment regarding this decision:

The game is an immersive first person only experience, but it does feature some moments where you’ll see your character in third person view.

Another user was even more upset:

Waited 15 years for nothing, this is a no buy for me unfortunately. 1st person is not immersive for me, I don’t want to play a flying camera.

There is a huge thread on the official forum regarding the desire of the gamers to have the third person view included in the game.

I cannot move around in 1st person as, within 10 mins, I become severely motion sick, throw up and get a migraine. I simply cannot play a game in 1st person. I have tried acclimatisation i.e slowly increasing length of time, tweaking frame rates and field of vision within 1st person games all to no effect.

Having an occasional 3rd person perspective doesn’t resolve the issue.

The general issue here is that the third person view is more expensive, both in time and money.

As you can see, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 won’t support third person play.

Let us know if this detail is enough to stop you from purchasing the game.
