Start menu is one of the features that you notice immediately after installing Windows 10. Besides that, when clicking the Start menu you probably have noticed two other buttons that are pinned right next to the Start button on Taskbar.

The Search and Task view buttons on the taskbar allow you search the web using Bing and access virtual desktop feature of Windows 10 respectively. Clicking on the Search icon will launch a menu of the size of Start menu and shows recent searches on the left of the menu and trending on the right-side. One can type search keyword followed by enter key to get web results using Bing search.

The other button, Task view, is to launch virtual desktops or multiple desktops feature of Windows 10. Multiple desktops, a feature which is already available in Linux and Mac OS X, is now available in Windows without having to install additional software.

After launching multiple desktops feature by clicking on the Task view button, you need to click on the plus sign to add new virtual desktops. Even though many users find this feature useful, most Windows users are ignoring this feature.

Those of you who aren’t using the search and task view icons (task view can also be accessed using Windows + Tab keys as well) might want to remove these two icons from the taskbar to get additional space on the taskbar.

The fact that task view can be accessed with the help of above mentioned hotkey and one can search the web right from the Start menu search box might make users want to remove Search and Task view buttons from the taskbar of Windows 10.

As you might have observed, Windows 10 doesn’t let you remove these icons from the taskbar. That is, unpin this program from taskbar doesn’t appear when you right-click on these icons. In Windows 10 TP, there is no option in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties to hide search and task view icons.

If you’re looking for an easy way to remove or hide search and task view buttons from Windows 10 taskbar, you can now download a free utility and run the same to hide search and task view buttons.
