Timeline Is Broken For Some Users In Windows 10 April Update

One of the most interesting Windows 10 April Update feature is Timeline. This new feature allows you to manage and resume your tasks on your phone or tablet. In this manner, you will no longer ask yourself where you left off and you can quickly resume work on another device.

Windows 10 automatically enables Timeline when you upgrade to the Windows 10 April Update. You can disable the feature by going to Settings > Privacy > Activity History and unchecking the options ‘Let Windows collect my activities from this PC‘ and ‘Let Windows sync my activities from this PC to the cloud‘.

On the other hand, many Windows 10 users really want to use Timeline and take advantage of its productivity options. However, this new feature may sometimes fail to work, as users report:

Users also tried to tweak their Registry values to fix this problem — to no avail. Setting the EnableActivityFeed, PublishUserActivities and UploadUserActivities DWORD values to 1 fails to enable Timeline.

The timeline activity just won’t show up on the timeline window. I always get “Use your PC more for activities.” I have enabled the settings required for timeline in Privacy > Activity History:

Let Windows collect my activities
Let Windows Sync my activities
Show activities from accounts

One Microsoft MVP suggested that performing a repair upgrade should fix this issue. You can also try to temporarily disable your antivirus software, and only then enable Timeline and check if this works.
