This week, the annual Complex PC expo was held in Taipei. That was the time when Qualcomm announced Project Limitless.
The company is collaborating with Lenovo on this project to design and manufacture the world’s first 5G Snapdragon-powered computer.
If the collaboration is fruitful, it will result in a really powerful 5G PC. Interestingly, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx SoC is going to power this unique machine.
This highly anticipated platform is expected to offer extreme performance with a download speed of up to 2.5 Gbps, excellent connectivity and battery life.
Unlike traditional systems, Qualcomm says that the PC no longer need internal fans to provide improved battery life.
The smartphone chipsets produced by Qualcomm are extremely popular around the world. The company says:
Furthermore, this upcoming PC is expected to bring 5G connectivity with the help of a Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G modem. Surprisingly, this innovative platform allows video streaming in high quality and high-speed file transfer.
Our collaboration with Lenovo will deliver transformative PC user experiences for both consumers and the enterprise thanks to the platform’s performance and power efficiency, combined with the high speed, low-latency connectivity made possible by 5G,” explained Alex Katouzian, senior vice president and general manager, mobile business unit, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Although the two companies just started working together on the new PC models, tech enthusiasts hope the new devices will exceed their expectations.
As a quick reminder, a few months ago, Qualcomm promised its users it would bring a new Snapdragon 8cx 5G PC platform to 5G PCs. We expect Project Limitless to land in the first half of 2020.
