We have some great news for IT admins as they will no longer have to separately open Device Manager, Event Viewer, Disk Management, Server Manager and Task Manager. Windows Admin Center is just a new name for the management tool that was used to be known as Project Honolulu.
Microsoft revealed its preview back in 2017 during Ignite and Project Honolulu was created with developers and IT in mind to offer them a central place from which they could remotely manage Windows 10 and Windows Server.
Windows Admin Center is a web-based management tool that brings together various consoles in a single straightforward, secure and remote management experience. Here are the most important benefits of using Windows Admin Center.
Modernized management experience
Windows Admin Center is a browser-based straightforward GUI platform and toolset for IT admins. It allows them to manage Windows 10 systems and Windows Server remotely.
Hybrid features
Windows Admin Center can manage machines anywhere including physical systems, virtual machines running on any cloud and any hypervisor. They can connect to the cloud with optional features such as integration with Azure Site Recovery for enhanced safety of virtual machines and also support for Azure Active Directory for controlling access via multi-factor authentication.
Integrated toolset
When using Windows Admin Center, you won’t have to bother switching between several different tools and contexts anymore. You’ll be able to enjoy a holistic overview of your resources and the ability to dig deep into details. You’ll also be able to manage failover clusters and hyper-converged infrastructure deployments.
Targeting extensibility
You will soon be able to extend Windows Admin Center’s features to third-party solutions. In other words, third-party hardware dealers will start using Windows Admin Center to offer management to their hardware.
Windows Admin Center is ready for use in production environments and supports Windows Server 2012 and 2019. Download it from Microsoft’s official website.
