[UPDATE] Plex contacted us about this matter, providing our readers with a quick workaround to fix the problem.

‘For those having an issue with getting Plex to work with the Creators Update, here’s what your readers can do if they’ve upgraded Windows and run into this problem: look for the windows.old directory, go to syswow64, copy the mfplat.dll file from there and paste it into the c:\windows\syswow64 directory. Launch Plex again and you should be good to go.

Appears Microsoft is working on an update to this issue, but wanted to pass along the above workaround, in case it helps your readers who are running into this issue.’

A Plex user posted the following on the Plex forums:

As of this writing, it remains unclear whether the issue is related to the Windows Media Feature pack not being available for the Creators Update. The user says the app worked on the Creators Update previously via an update from the Anniversary Update. There was also an attempt to install the media feature pack on an N version of Windows, but to no avail:

Plex doesn’t seem to be working on a clean install of the latest Windows 10 update (dubbed the Creators Update).

Plex works via my browser, so I know my server is working. It also worked prior to clean installing the creators update.

Anyone have any idea why this is? Where does Plex store its log?

I have tried installing the media feature pack I’m on an N version of Windows) but despite installing successfully, it doesn’t make any difference. A Microsoft support rep said there will be a feature pack for the creators update next week, so maybe that will help?
