There are plenty of free news apps that you can download and install on your Windows 10, 8.1 tablet, and The Economist is definitely one of the best to try out. To be able to use the app, of course, you will need to have an account. If you don’t have one, you will register one right when you start the app. Also, after registering your account, in case you don’t have one, you will be asked whether you want to use the app in offline mode, which I recommend you to do in order to save up storage space.

With a free account, which means a non-subscriber profile, you will be able to read only the editor’s picks from a certain issue of the newspaper. You can also explore back issues of The Economist, with the first one being from June 2012. I’ve discovered that past issues have more free articles that you can enjoy and they look really bright on a Windows 8 tablet’s display.

The best way to read The Economist on your Windows device. The app is free to download and includes free access to the editor’s picks – a weekly selection of articles from each week’s edition of The Economist. Digital and print subscribers to The Economist receive unrestricted access to each week’s full print edition by signing in with their economist.com e-mail address and password. Non-subscribers can register for an economist.com account to read the free editor’s picks.

Each week’s issue of The Economist will be made available on every Thursday and if you will have enabled the offline mode, then you can download issues to your Windows 8 device and read them without having to rely on your Internet connectivity.

While reading an article, you can choose to mark it as a favorite, increase the font size and even listen to the audio version of it, which is really cool. We will keep an eye on The Economist for Windows 8 app and will report about any important future updates. Follow the link from below to get it on your Windows 8 tablets and other devices.
