The Halo game series has been in the spotlight lately. Many had suggested that Halo 5 could see a release on Windows 10, but those rumors were later debunked when it was revealed it would not be released for Windows 10 PCs, a piece of news that only saddened fans. Still, fans can play Halo Wars 2 until June 20 to cheer them up.
While PC gamers have long requested Microsoft to release Halo games on their preferred platform, Microsoft hasn’t done so due to the company’s high success with its console hardware, especially the Xbox 360.
Luckily, these suggestions did not fall on deaf ears as Microsoft is indeed bringing the next Halo game to the Windows 10 platform. The tech giant announced that all first-party Microsoft games, such as Gears of War 4 or Scalebound, will come to both its gaming platforms thanks to the new Xbox Play Anywhere program. This new Xbox Live feature will allow you to digitally buy your favorite game once and play it on either the Xbox One and Windows 10.
Microsoft already confirmed that it was technically speaking to port Halo 5 to PC, but it prefers to direct its efforts on porting Halo 6 in order to deliver the best possible game experience.
Speaking of the new cross-platform play feature, Microsoft has already published a list of initial games that will work with it. This list will definitely get longer in the coming months.
Halo 5 absolutely could be played on a PC. There’s nothing about that gameplay mechanic that doesn’t work. […]
Honestly the answer with Halo 5 is, I can go take last year’s game, rework it to go on PC, or I can have 343 look forward in what they’re going to go do. You could say I’m cheating a little bit by doing a half thing with putting Forge on PC, because we kind of have the tools working on PC to see what happens, but this is what we did with Forza, with Apex. I said, ‘This isn’t a full Forza game”.
