Swipe Navigation Returns In Microsoft Edge On Windows 10

Microsoft is bringing back its signature swipe navigation to Microsoft Edge in the latest Windows 10 Preview build. This feature was pretty popular on Windows 8.1, reflected in a recent uptick of user requests for the feature. Apparently, Microsoft heard the feedback from users and decided to re-introduce the feature as a result.

Swipe navigation is a smooth and easy way to navigate through web pages in Microsoft Edge. You can get back to the previous page simply by swiping anywhere on the page. This feature is only available on Windows 10 tablets and computers with touch-screen monitors as you can’t use your mouse to swipe between web pages on regular Windows 10 PCs.

At the beginning of May, there was word around the internet that Microsoft was testing this feature internally, and that it would be released with the next Preview build for Windows 10. As today’s release confirmed, these rumors were true.

While this feature is only available to Windows 10 Preview users running build 14342 now, we expect it to also arrive in the very next Preview build which Microsoft has yet to announce. As for regular users of Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile, swipe navigation should be introduced with the Anniversary Update this summer, just like the many other features that Microsoft has already presented to Insiders.
