Microsoft is constantly upgrading, changing and removing features from Windows 10. One good example of this is how Windows 10 20H1 (version 2004) seems to be laying the foundation for removing SwiftKey.

As you may already know, SwiftKey is a popular Android and iOS app that is meant to enhance and speed up the way you write using the on-screen keyboard.

Microsoft acquired the rights to SwiftKey back in 2016 and integrated some of its features into the system, such as swiping gestures, intelligent word suggestion and more.

SwiftKey will no longer be part of Windows 10

Unfortunately for fans of the feature, these features will soon be a thing of the past, as Microsoft removed the SwiftKey keyboard from Windows 10 Version 2004(20H1).

The 20H2 is also missing the integration, further proving the SwiftKey will no longer be part of Windows 10’s future. No news or official statements have been made by Microsoft, but suffice it to say that only users of Windows tablets will be affected.

It is hard to understand why Microsoft would exclude SwiftKey from its design. This is especially when you consider how it is one of the most popular apps on the market, having recently crossed the 500 million installations on the Google Play Store alone.

However, this doesn’t mean that tablet users won’t have a keyboard interface anymore. The interface will stay more or less the same, just that SwiftKey won’t be the one powering it.

No word has surfaced on what will Microsoft use as a replacement. However, if it is good enough to replace SwiftKey then users are probably in for a big surprise.
