The Meltdown and Spectre bugs have been making the headlines lately. Google recently disclosed these two CPU vulnerabilities, and Microsoft reacted promptly by rolling  out a series of updates aimed at patching these security issues.

If you own a Surface device, you can now download the necessary updates to protect it. Go to Microsoft’s Surface Support page, select your Surface model and follow the download link available on the webpage.

The patches are available for the following devices:

  • Surface Pro 3
  • Surface Pro 4
  • Surface Book
  • Surface Studio
  • Surface Pro Model 1796
  • Surface Laptop
  • Surface Pro with LTE Advanced
  • Surface Book 2

It is worth mentioning that these updates are available for Surface devices running Windows 10 Creators Update (OS version 15063) and Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (OS version 16299).

The Surface Hub vs Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities

Surface Hub owners may consider themselves lucky. Microsoft informs that Surface Hub’s advanced protection strategies greatly reduce the risk of becoming vulnerable to these threats.
