The Surface Book and Surface Pro 4 are now a tad more stable, thanks to the release of the April firmware and driver updates for those devices from Microsoft. The Redmond giant has been pushing out updates for both devices every month, even if the patches do not reach a significant amount.

In the case of the April release, the fixes are quite modest. Nevertheless, the release is something that offers better stability. The Surface Book’s April 2017 update is quite reminiscent of the release from last month. The update includes:

  • Surface driver update for Surface System Aggregator (90.1610.256.0): Resolves screen brightness issue when devices come out of sleep.
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel Precise Touch Device (1.2.0.83): Improves system stability.
  • Surface driver update for Surface Integration (1.1.328.0): Adjusts system Hibernation defaults.

The Surface Pro 4 release expands on display, storage, and other updates from March with some improvements on stability. The details are:

  • Surface driver update for Surface System Aggregator (103.1610.256.0): Resolves screen brightness issue when devices come out of sleep.
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel Precise Touch Device (1.2.0.83): Improves system stability.
  • Surface driver update for Surface Integration (1.0.121.0): Adjusts system Hibernation defaults.

The updates are available from the Action Center by selecting All Settings, then clicking Update & Security > Windows Update, and choosing the Check for updates button. Your computer might restart after the firmware installation.

It remains unclear when and if Microsoft plans to roll out the updates for the Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2.

  • Surface Book, Surface Pro 4 March updates improve system stability and battery life
  • Latest Surface Book update improves system stability, reduces false touch events
  • Surface Pro 4, Surface Book and Surface 3 updated to fix power issues
  • Microsoft updates Surface Pro 4 drivers with improved Cortana and audio support
