When you connect a new device to your Windows 10 computer, Windows 10 automatically downloads and installs apps from the device manufacturer. For instance, if you connect an HP printer to your Windows 10 PC, HP printer app is automatically downloaded and installed without seeking your permission.

If you find that a device manufacturer’s app is not necessary, you can uninstall the app via the Settings app, but Windows 10 will likely automatically install the app again as it did before.

So, if you want Windows 10 to stop automatically installing the printer, scanner or any other device’s app, you need to change the default device installation settings.
