Windows 7 is quickly approaching its end of support date.
Regular users who still use the OS will get security updates until 14 January, 2020, but enterprise customers have a couple more options.
Windows 7 enterprise customers get one year of free extended support
As stated by Microsoft earlier this year, businesses will have the option to extend the security updates for up to three years, but they’ll have to pay for them.
This applies to Enterprise Agreement (EA) and Enterprise Subscription Agreement (EAS) customers with active Windows 10 Enterprise E5, Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 E5 Security subscriptions, and Government E5 SKUs (G5).
Get one year of free security updates before 31 December, 2019
It’s worth mentioning that the promotion applies to valid subscriptions that are active right now, but also to new subscriptions purchased before 31 December, 2019.
If you have one of the aforementioned subscriptions, you don’t have to do anything to get the free security updates. Just make sure that the subscription remains active throughout the extended support period.
Despite the fact that the Redmond giant is pushing Windows 10 as a replacement for Windows 7 in the enterprise world, these free security updates will surely help customers.
