The Social media summit is back this time with an interesting theme and list of seasoned speakers. In a news release yesterday, Social Media Summit Africa Limited Director, Collins Mugume confirmed that they had secured confirmations from the keynote speakers that would be presenting at the Social Media Summit Uganda event 2015.

“We are really excited to have received confirmations from all our keynote speakers for the Summit 2015 event. It reinforces to us the belief that social really does mean business” he said today. He added “…and the team is great. Philip and Mark are not new to Uganda but we are really jazzed they are coming down this time round. Bronwen too will be bringing freshness out of South Africa. And Marvin will top it all off with the Tanzanian experience”.

The event organizers have stated that the 2nd annual Social Media Summit Uganda event will be held on 3rd December 2015 at the Golf Course Hotel, Kampala under the theme “Social Means Business”.

The Social media summit is an annual event that’s a partnership of the best of industry leaders to create a space a where best practice sharing, learning and networking can happen. Participants usually range from Government, businesses, civil society, sports franchises, leading hotels, health practitioners, SMES, tourism and private sector.

The keynote speakers for the 2015 summit event will include among others Bronwen Auret, an intrapreneur with 15 years’ experience in digital publishing, media and marketing. Digital audience, content and connectivity are her lifeblood. She is currently an executive board member for advertising agency, Metropolitan Republic and is responsible for developing an integrated digital business across 5 African countries. Phillip Ogola is a new media consultant. He does work with UNHCR, Social UN, Social Good, Digital Foot Print and he is the Africa Ambassador for SMW Lagos, and Founder Digital Humanitarian Kenya.

Mark Kaigwa is the CEO for NENDO, a Nairobi-based boutique consultancy focused on Strategy and Storytelling for Digital Africa, and he was one of Forbes 30 under 30 Best Young Entrepreneurs in Africa (2013). He has spent the last 7 years helping global and African businesses, brands and nonprofits use technology to connect with Africans online. He has a multidisciplinary background with experiences ranging in marketing & communications, design thinking, screenwriting, film production and directing as well as creative direction in advertising. Marvin Bisanga currently Digital Account Manager with AIM group in Tanzania, has worked with the best digital agencies across East Africa from Blu Flamingo in Uganda, to Squad Digital in Kenya.

The Summit this year will focus on the business of social media; how it can affect the organization’s or businesses’ bottom line; generate tangible and measurable value! It will address emerging trends from government, big business, the SME sector, civil society, and the private sector and show how social media is taking center stage in communication strategies, brand engagement as well as expansion and growth.
