Microsoft launched Skype Translator preview just over a year ago and since then, it has been embedded into the Skype for desktop app. It was initially available to Windows 10 users, but now Skype Translator is rolling out to all Windows users. Here’s what the Skype team said on their official blog:
By using voice-to-voice translation, all Skype for Windows users can now speak in seven languages: Chinese Mandarin, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. By using text-to-text translation, Windows users can now write in over 50 instant message languages.
Today, Skype Translator is reaching a milestone moment by completing roll out to all Skype for Windows customers! This takes Skype one step closer to our mission of empowering people to do more, even across languages. We hope that our customers can achieve their goals through relationships that would have previously been impossible.
The Skype Translator team said they are working on rolling out new languages and platforms. If you want to start using Skype Translator, you simply need to click on the globe in the upper right hand corner of the app, as you can see in the above picture.
