Skype launched a brand new feature to help users conduct tech and coding interviews much easier.

The real-time code editor supports remote tech screenings

A remote technical screening involves talking and coding at the same time, and this can turn out to be pretty difficult. The reason is that two apps are running at the same time, the code editor and the call, and you have to keep switching back and forth between them. The whole process can become quite troubling. That’s why Skype seems to have a solution.

It is a new preview feature that will allow users to have a video call on top of a code editor that runs in your Chrome browser or Microsoft Edge. This will only work for versions which are set to English. All you’ll need is the Skype.com without having to download anything else.

The built-in code editor supports seven traditional programming languages including C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Java, Ruby, and Python. There’s also a built-in syntax highlighting that will prevent syntactic mistakes.

Here’s how the new feature works

All you need to do is head over to the Skype.com/interviews and click on Start interview. You’ll receive a link that you will share with the other participant. The participant will need to follow the link, and then you’ll get started. During the interview, you will be able to change the programming languages by clicking the button on the upper left. You can start a video call by clicking on the button next to Start video interview.

Feedback is required

The new feature is still in preview; therefore, users’ feedback is essential because their input will help build the new feature as close to perfection as possible.

To send you feedback, all you have to do is head over to Skype.com/interviews and select Send feedback.
